Much better than an electric pump!, 29 April 2014

I should say, I didn't buy this product here on Amazon - I bought it from boots when I was on holiday and panicking that I was developing mastitis, and it was just a choice between this and Tommy Tippee. However I LOVE it! I am puzzled by some other reviewers who said that they couldn't get any milk with this product. For me it's much more efficient than my double electric pump. I can pump 125ml (4.2 oz) in less than 10 minutes. And as for noise, a little plasticky scrunch is better than the hum of an electric pump. I think maybe those people who had trouble were not finding the rhythm which works for them - for me that's one thing I really like, I can vary it exactly as needed. Personally what works for me is ten very quick pumps, then a short break of a few seconds, another set of quick pumps, then I start doing longer 3 second pumps, and very quickly it starts coming out very fast. As a first time mum, I wanted to have a way of giving baby breastmilk when I go out or round the inlaws, as I didn't always feel comfortable in public and you need to relax when feeding to help baby. I wasn't too sure about pumping, so I went for a manual just in case I didn't like expressing, and I was pleasantly surprised at how compact but easy to use this product is. Everything went in the microwave sterilizer and went back together easy. The first time I used it I filled the unit and that was after a feed on that side. It was really comfortable as it has a gel liner and didn't tire my hand out as it was a soft pull, so you could express for ages. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
