First off, this product is quite expensive for what it is - four bits of sponge and some cloth, but that aside it is pretty good. We got the pink one, which is not really pink at all - the colours in the photo are true to life. Our newborn is also considerably smaller than the child in the photo so it has acres of space to grow in to. What do you get? The central sleeping area is fairly wide and is a thin piece of material-covered foam with a removable version that sits on the top. Unlike the photo, there is no pillow/ridge unless you bend this second piece of foam. Not sure that you would want to, but if you wanted a pillow, then be aware there is not one. The sponge sides are about the thickness of an average man's forearm; big enough to stop baby rolling away. Up to you to decide if they are big enough to ensure that so long as you are following safe sleeping rules, then you are probably unlikely to roll onto baby.
