We bought three packs of these for the birth of our first child because we didn't want to spend a fortune on disposables and because we wanted to keep our landfill waste down. In hindsight, two packs would probably be enough but the extra cases were very handy. The folding took a bit of getting used to and we found that it makes more sense to pre-fold and put the bioliners in them so that you don't get caught having to prep a nappy when you have a newborn in need of changing (avoiding the fountain of pee became an art form in our house!) We stored one days worth of nappies per two bags once prepped which helped make sure we weren't caught out. They can seem a little expensive given the initial outlay, but one or two packs would probably be enough for a newborn if you do a load of washing every day and they are guaranteed for two babies. We did encounter a few issues so (in a format used by another reviewer for the larger sized nappies):

been using these nappies for almost two months now, high quality Indian cotton is amazing at absorbing all liquids leaving your baby dry and rash free, they are very easy to clean and dry quick to meaning you don't need to plan in advance just wash and dry. definitely worth the price i prefer reusable nappies over non reusable as they work out so much cheaper in the long term would definitely recommend these to any mums out there

Really happy with purchase, 13 Dec. 2012
I've been using the real nappies for new borns for two weeks now and I'm really happy with them. They're easy to clean too. I just put them in the washing machine with a tablespoon of "Nappy Fresh" and they come out as white as new so they're not time consuming. They seem to be kind to my little girl's bottom too, no rash so far and have good absorbancy.
