When my son was a baby, four years ago, we used an audio monitor, to listen in to breathing and wakefulness. We were happy enough with that, but having tried this out, in anticipation of future siblings, I would want a video monitor in the future.
This has uses for newborns and toddlers, and even at my son's age (nearly 5), this is a great idea.
You get a monitor, the parent screen and control, an adaptor to charge each, and an instruction manual. I found this straightforward to use, and even my son picked it up quickly. I set up the monitor in my son's room, and liked the colour visuals in daylight, and the fact that it switches to night vision in low light conditions. In both, I could see my son in bed (I experimented with the adjustable monitor to get the best angle) and the room around him, though the quality does deteriorate the further away from him in his bedroom the monitor was placed.

Starting with the box it came nicely packaged,the camera needs to be plugged in at all times with the included cable but the little display receiver has a built in battery which also has its own dedicated charger. Set up is extremely easy,just plug in the camera and switch on both devices,on the receiver go to the connecting screen and connect with the camera then back twice and you can now get live feedback. The camera has many tricks,the night vision is really well made, you can clearly see what's happening in pitch black darkness over a large area and the option is automatic so no extra buttons need to be pressed. You can also talk in to the receiver and through the camera and vice versa. You can also play lullabies through the camera and all of this is controlled via the remote with display.
