Don't buy the auto close gate, buy the manual close one for half price instead, 1 Dec. 2015

We have bought a manually closed version initially, but then we decided that auto close is a great feature. We can be sure that our children are safe even if someone forgets the gate or is not careful enough to check if it is closed.

Well, we have sent back the manual close version, bought the auto close model for roughly double price, and after 2 months both gates stopped reliably closing automatically.

We had a problem with one gate after about a month, where it sometimes didn't engage. In a manual gate you can manually force it to close, with this auto close gate you can't. So we have to move the gate around, tap the lock, open and let it close again, listening if the lock engaged. Frustrating.

Now after the second month the other gate also stopped working, and this one is very dangerous too. It appears to be locked, it has the same sound, but when my 2 year old pulls it, it opens. Since I use these gates to block access to a steep staircase, this is actually quite...

Great gate, auto-closes and locks in both directions, easy to install, 26 Jun. 2015

I'm very pleased with this gate, it was easy to fit myself while my husband was at work (he just did a bit of minor adjustment when he got home!) and I was able to start using it within 15 minutes of opening the box.

The instructions are very clear and have lots of clear diagrams with the measurements for the gaps clearly stated and it's in booklet form so it's easy to pop them away safely for reference.

The gate is sturdy and well-built and looks unobtrusive, but I found that when its mounted inside the doorframe to my sons room, I can't close the door because it's in the way. This is a bit of a pain, so I'm going to see if I can mount it outside the doorframe where the plasterboard is - this worries me slightly because I think it might dent the plaster because it needs to be tensioned quite tightly to get the lock to function correctly.

Convenient auto-close and one-handed operation, 27 July 2015

A good quality safety gate, it feels well made, and comes with good, clear instructions - although if you've used a safety gate before, it's probably quite unlikely you'll need them.One-handed opening is very useful - especially if you're carrying your child or something else - so much nicer than an older style gate we've been using which requires two hands to open easily!The auto-close feature is especially useful - again especially when carrying something, but also just for the peace of mind that you can't forget to close the gate - but it does clunk shut quite noisily then, so we tend to still close it manually most of the time for quietness.Side extensions are easily available if you need it to fit a wider opening than the 73 - 80 cm it covers by default - 7cm, 14cm and 28 cm extensions are available, taking you all the way up to a maximum of 136cm.
