In a family of Chemists, we have made our living from being capable of accurately weighing stuff. When we started using this balance we immediately knew something was off.
1. This balance is completely imprecise (and probably also inaccurate*) for weighing newborns and babies before being able to sit up. It seems that the corner load of the balance (when accesorised with the baby pan) is completely off the charts. I got three different readings for my baby the very same day varying from 4.270 to 5.330 kg.
This got me worried about the precision and accuracy of the balance so I tried to test the error of corner-load with 1 kg (~1 lit) of water. When the water container was put at the very center of the pan, close to the display, the value was indeed 1,010 (~0.1% error) which is fine for the purpose of use.
Moving the container to the corners (up left, down left, up right and down right) of the pan the readings ranged from 0.720 to 1.090 meaning that the balance...
