This is a really versatile styler and incredible value. It comprises a base unit that blows hot air and five attachments.
There's a concentration nozzle, a 38mm ceramic hot air brush (described as a 'thermal' brush) for curls and waves, a 28mm ceramic bristle brush for smoothing and shaping, a 10mm tong for curls and flicks, and a straightener attachment which has a perforated, rather than solid plate, is twice the width of usual straighteners and has bristles on the edges. There are three heat settings, cool, warm and hot - the hot being the one for the best use of the hot air brush, straightener and tong attachments.
Each attachment attaches with a simple twist on, twist off action, indication marks on the styler and on each attachment show where the connections should be lined up.
The 1200w motor is far more powerful than previous multi-attachment stylers and as a result, gives a far better performance. It's not a quiet device, the little motor...

After using the same Nicky Clark hot air styler for over ten years, which suddenly began intermittently cutting out, and them emitting blue sparks, I was forced into purchasing a replacement.
I chose the Vidal Sasson styler because it has similar attachments to my Nicky Clark Styler and also had a high power rating. In theory this would have been an acceptable replacement, however after attaching the brush I found that I could not remove it even though I was depressing the release button and trying to loosen the attachment by wiggling it back and forth. In the end I managed to successfully detach it after gripping the brush with a tea towel and the main barrel with a rubber glove to stop it slipping in my hand. I then tried the nozzle attachment, however I experienced exactly the same problem, and as I couldn’t be bothered with another half hour arm wrestle to remove it, I sent it back to Amazon with the nozzle still attached.

My old Philips styler is wearing out, had it over 15 years. Liked the look of the similar number of attachments with the Sassoon Ultimate Styler. It was delivered yesterday, tried to use it for the first time today. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! My hair is short and fairly fine so used the slimmer 20mm brush attachment similar to the one I've been using on my Philips. It gets so hot so quickly (even on the low heat setting) that I am surprised this is a legal piece of equipment. No way could I use the top setting. Not only does the heat blowing through burn the scalp but the barrel of the brush becomes incredibly hot (bear in mind I've been using a styler for years and I know they do get hot but this one is unreal). The attachment gets so hot that the tip which I need to hold to guide the brush whilst styling is too darn hot to touch too. The 1200w sounded like a really great idea - plenty of power!
