The hero props in the movie have a servo-powered spinner to change the intensity setting from ´stun´ to ´kill´. The spinner on our replica turns manually and uses an active locking mechanism that gently locks the spinner neatly in place. The Star Trek Into Darkness Phaser Replica is solid polystone core enrobed in metal plating with several finishes -- brushed aluminum, gun metal, and chrome -- to create an exact match of the hero phasers used onscreen. This phaser looks exactly like the one used in the movies but there are many flaws. The spinning mechanism for the stun and kill setting is nice but it works much more neatly when switching from kill to stun as it clicks into place. However, when spinning from stun to kill the red barrel stiffs up and is bent slightly to the side forcing the user to push it into the centre. This is very frustrating. In case you were wondering this phaser DOES NOT COME WITH LIGHT OR SOUND FX; this is not as annoying as this phaser is intended as a replica rather than a toy. Overall this is a very nice metal phaser that you can keep on display or just fiddle around with when at home but I would not recommend for a child or a fan wishing to have a prop for a costume.

For the price, item is very cheaply made with basic stand provided. Appears to be something you would expect to receive as part of package when buying a copy of a "collector's edition" of the film. The phaser has some weight to suggest it was made with metal rather than his plastic, but overall finish is poor. Seller dispatched item quickly and it was packed securely to prevent damage.

Bought this from Graeme @ Evans Toys In Durham and couldn't be more delighted. The replica is a fantastic screen replica, and was received in only 48 hrs in secure packaging..would seriously recommend Evans Toys as has more Trek collectables at affordable prices and is the most courteous people I've dealt with so far - will definately be buying off them again !!!!!
