A very unusual toy - electrically powered, dives, cute sounds & design, and view your toes underwater, 15 Sept. 2015

This is an unusual bath toy - large, relatively heavy (which means it sits correctly in the water), battery powered and goes underwater. Our daughter loves it.

May I reassure you that it is impossible to get an electric shock from this. If you don't believe me, fill the sink, put 3 AAA batteries in it and dip your hands in it. Nothing happens as the current and voltage are tiny. The current is so low that electricity can't even flow through the water.

Those three batteries are included and installed, so you don't need to insert them.

When you tip the submarine (as if to dive), the portholes on each side light up.

I say `as if to dive' - that's what I love about this. You really can dive. The only disappointing aspect is that the depth of our bath water is too low to he the submarine fully submerged. I can see this getting used in the paddling pool in the summer and possibly in a swimming...

You'll have to bribe them to get out of the bath now, 7 Sept. 2015

This excellent TOMY toy was chosen for our youngest grandson, who is nearly two. He spends forever in the bath with his brother, four, and bath toys are really appreciated at the end of a busy day. Undersea worlds feature a lot with these two little boys, they are fascinated by sea creatures and boats too.

I opened the pack carefully, all the bits of the toy are secured by tight string, this means a bit of preparation before gifting would pay off, make it all easy to take hold of and explore rather than waving sharp scissors about at the crucial moment. The batteries are already in and ready to go. There is a DEMO! facility while the toy is still in the colourful presentation box. The Skipper of Das Boot, I mean the See the Under the Sea Submarine, is a chunky chap who can also be filled with water to set the paddle turning. He sits in his conning tower not so comfortably as he is in constant danger of being ejected for a dive by little fingers pressing down on the...

Fun, but not quite up to the mark., 23 Sept. 2015

My two year old really enjoys this bath toy. It is quite large, but it means it is easily moved around the bath by little hands. You press the funnel and different sounds are played, and if you tilt the submarine it lights up and music plays. However, I have only given three stars for a number of reasons. There are no instructions on how to assemble the different pieces (although I admit there are only three separate pieces), and I feel there are some design flaws that are quite frustrating and disappointing. The Captain Walrus is supposed to be launched into the water via the flip lid of the submarine. This works to minimal effect, the walrus being more likely to just fall off the top. The blue flip lid also detaches itself very easily from the submarine. The purple water wheel at the back is fun for pouring water over, but it floats off the submarine if it is submerged in the water. Finally the submarine is quite unstable and doesn't float that well on the water, which leads to...
