Didn't think a therapy pack could be improved upon/reinvented but this proves otherwise. Purchased this for my partner who had an extensive surgery in his arm. We needed something that would work with both cold and hot therapy to manage post-surgery bruising, swelling and general pain. We also needed something sizeable but not too large. This did the job. We were used to both gel packs and grain packs. Gel packs typically scalded when it came to heat therapy, holding in too much heat or not enough. And when cold, they were solid and too cold. Grain packs do a good job getting heated up in the microwave but aren't as good about being cold quickly. This product did both wonderfully. It would heat up and cool down quickly. Never too hot due to the pearls distributing the heat. And when cold, it doesn't really become hard or too cold due to the pearls. Finally, we were impressed by the way the pack itself sat on the body. No hollow spots like gel or even some grain packs. It is expensive...
