Good stocking filler, 27 Dec. 2007

This is one of the better wind-up stocking fillers I have seen. A little expensive but it works very well - the movement is amusing and quite fast. Great for racing across the kitchen table. A bit of Christmas morning fun.

Purchased this along with a clockwork chick as I felt they may make interesting toys for my cats to play with.To gain the cats attention, I decided to race the caterpillar and the chick together and (spoiler alert) found that the chick usually wins each race unless he (or she) gets distracted and veers off course. The chick hops along and the caterpillar hunches and slides and both move acceptably on carpet although they do work best on hard surfaces.They both seem to be well made and would make good stocking fillers, with the prospect of providing a few hours of entertainment, particularly if purchased with a few of the other types that are available. Unfortunately they have not worked out well as cat toys, but they are not intended for that purpose and are actually a nice distraction to have on the desk during the odd idle moment.

Had turned Orange on arrival!, 1 Aug. 2013

Clockwork caterpillar did what it says on the box, but when it arrived it was ORANGE, not Green, as advertised (see picture above).(cat very disappointed!!)
