As soon as I found out I was pregnant I wrote a list of things to buy - and for some reason, everyone told me to get tommee tippee as they were a good quality, repuatble brand.
I got this from Argos, not amazon, and it has only lasted 3 months! Today, after de-scaling it and (luckily) sterilising my bottles, I put it on again to do teethers/soothers and it will not turn itself off! It is now creating a burning smell, and I've had to pull it out at the mains.
However, I will review it for the whole time I have used it & give it its dues where they are deserved.
It is the only tommee tippee steriliser that does actually take 6 bottles without any struggle. It is very quick at sterilising what you need done (5 mins I believe) and it stays sterile for 24 hours if un-opened.

I can understand why a few people don't like this. But we have had very few issues with ours, and most are just design points, not major failings. If you are brave enough to lift things out at the end of the cycle, you'll know they are sterile - they are very hot and if you load it correctly, all the parts are well covered by the steam.
First off, yes the element plate will get limescaled. If your kettle gets it, so will this. We filter our water (using regularly replaced brita cartridges) and both this and our kettle scale up. It's not hard to descale and Boots, Amazon and supermarkets all sell descaler suitable for sterilisers. I probably do it about once every 6 weeks and we live in a VERY hard water area (TT...
