Average room, good bath thermometer, 22 Jan. 2015

This item is neatly packaged in rigid plastic that is both easy to open, and small enough to keep as thermometer storage. The item itself is made from a sturdy white plastic with with a light green petal motif on top surrounding a small, but perfectly readable LCD display. The thermometer fits easily in the hand and the display is activated by either dropping or tapping. It seems to be fairly accurate, and there is a small red warning LED above the display which displays if the temperature of the water is too high, which is a nice added extra.

In terms of performance, it appears to be very accurate for water based uses and provides the reading shortly after being put in the bath. In terms of room performance, it is also perfectly godo at providing a temperature, however, its room thermometer is the one real criticism I have of it. It has an auto-off function which automatically turns the display off after a short period, which may be good from a battery-life perspective,...

Great dual purpose thermometer, 1 Jan. 2015

Very nice. A small thermometer that acts as both a water temperature flotation thermometer and a standing room thermometer. Easy to activate, you just tap it lightly on a hard surface. The star shapped device sits nicely on a little plastic stand; it just sits on it, doesn't clip into place but is quite secure though there are two holes in the base of the stand with which you could presumably screw into a permanent surface just removing the star thermometer whenever you wanted to whilst leaving the stand permanently positioned.

The star floats nicely in the bath and the reading goes up incrementally so you should leave it until the reading ceases increasing. Upon hitting 39 degrees a little and very bright red LED light flashes as does the temperature reading. The display continues to rise if necessary flashing all the while which is obviously the warning that the bath water is hotter than recommended for little ones.

I really like its dual use purpose, you just take it out...

My second bath thermometer from Tommee Tippee is another fine product. The reading is clear, and as far as I can tell it is accurate - placing it in a bath alongside another thermometer shows that both are usually in sync with each other, or out by a fraction of a degree. The shape and material mean that it's quick and easy to plop into and lift out of the water, it dries in a few seconds, and the kids like to poke with it. The stand is a nice, non-essential addition, meaning you can place the thermometer beside the bath and not worry about it slipping back in or onto the ground.
