Tomy Paddling Puppy, 20 April 2016
Suitable from 10m this is a cheerful, wind up bath toy. It is quite large, so easy for small hands to hold. The bottom of the boat has a wind up mechanism and my little nephew could turn it easily and enjoyed making the puppy paddle across the bath.My nephew was a little upset you couldn’t take the puppy out of the boat, but he enjoyed playing with it. The boat is large enough that he could balance small toys in front of or behind the puppy – meaning that he could carry out daring rescues! Good fun for babies and toddlers and ideal for baths or paddling pools. The puppy also has nice, textured ears for babies to chew on.

Lovely wind-up bath toy, 22 April 2016
Our three year-old daughter absolutely loves bath time (we are lucky, I know!). She has lots of different bath toys, from the usual squirties and cups to electronic ducks which plays a tune once in the water. This toy made a nice addition to her bath toys collection. She likes the prospect of winding it up and paddling by itself. Sometimes it does need a bit of a tougher hand so that it paddles fast enough. The reason for giving it 4 stars is because it is a bit too big, so it doesn't fit in her usual draining net bag.Overall, I would recommend it if you don't already have lots of bath toys!

Needs a bigger spring, 2 May 2016

My first reaction on receiving the Paddling Puppy from Amazon was that it was bigger than I’d imagined - it is roughly the size of a saucer. This does have the advantage of giving space for a nice big winder underneath (it has a diameter about the same as the width of a credit card’s height). That’s good for adult and little, slightly less dextrous, children's fingers since it gives much more to grab on to when winding. The winder is of the ratchet sort that doesn’t need to be released when winding, just keep rotating left/right until the spring is fully loaded.

Once wound up, drop the little puppy dingy into the bath and he’ll start paddling away, surprising well at first. But the spring’s energy quickly dissipates and though the puppy keeps trying to paddle, forward progress stops rather quickly. With the toy we received, the puppy even starts getting stuck after the spring has wound down by about a quarter. The paddling motion is kind...
