It infuriates me when the product picture does not match the actual product. This is the case with this mat. See the lovely photo with a square mat comfortably holding 2 children? It's not like that. It's a smaller oblong and two children sitting on it in reality completely cover it. It is not as large as pictured.
The mat itself is good with a plastic surround you can rest your water toys and a colourful wave pattern is revealed when you get sections wet. The accessories don't hold much water so in case of accident you are not going to get a flooded floor. The 3 stamps are particularly effective, fine and detailed and you can make wider marks with the pen and paint brush type pen. The stamper base is just a loose bit of padded material which can be washed. There is a box reservoir for the paintbrush. These are great as you don't have to keep rushing to the tap to fill the pen every 2 minutes.
These mats are good for mark making, letter formation and dry quickly...

This version of aquadoodle is superior to previous versions where I felt the colours produced by the pens were a bit wishy washy.
Not so this version which produces bright vivid neon-rainbow effects with each brush and pen stroke. I think that is the reason my grandchildren have had more fun with it. They seemed to get bored quickly with the previous aquadoodle mats they had and I think it was because the colours were so pale.
This mat is 25% bigger than the previous one and allows 2 toddlers to play on it at once. However please note it is not as big as the photo might have you believe.
The brush produces lovely broad lines and the pen is good for the more detailed bits of their 'artwork'. The 3 round stamps produce nice clear images.
Be aware that you can't wipe the mat clean. You have to wait for earlier creations to dry and fade before embarking on a new piece of art.
Recommended for hours of fun which packs away into a small storage space.

We bought the original Aquadoodle mat a couple of years ago. The 'Aquadoodle Super Colour Deluxe' is a new edition of the same toy but slightly larger, by around 25%, though it's not as big as it looks on Amazon. My two grandchildren couldn't spread out together on the mat with any room to spare.
Along with the mat there are 7 accessories; paintbrush (reveals neon colours), three stampers (bees, snails and musical notes), water reservoir, easy grip pen and a stamper base. Everything children, 18 months plus, need to get started.
The mat is good quality, our old one lasted for over a year, and the idea of painting with water rather than paint makes for a nice change. Just make sure you put the water reservoir on the mat so if it spills it won't go onto the floor and don't forget you will need to constantly refill the pen. The pattern around the edge of the mat with all of its bright creatures is great for children to copy.
