Take a great toy (Hide & Squeak eggs) and makes it just slightly worse, 7 Sept. 2015

We already had a set of Tomy “Hide & Squeak” eggs ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tomy-Hide-Squeak-Eggs-box/dp/B0086MD344 ) and on first appearances, this seemed to be the same set but rebranded with Disney Winnie the Pooh shapes and new colours.

And essentially it is the same, though there is one other key difference- these don’t squeak. You can’t press the characters down and get a squeak any more. All they do is shake like shakers when, um, shaken. So the whole spring-loaded aspect of them has disappeared, which is a shame as that was a big part of what made the Hide & Squeak eggs fun.

As a pack of six eggs, the toy made sense. Why you’d have an eggbox-sized object containing half a dozen miniature honeypots, who knows. Obviously that’s applying adult (or more-or-less adult) reasoning to a child’s toy, which is generally futile, but still, the upshot of having six objects in the pack means that you get Kanga, but you...

Cute and well constructed., 10 Sept. 2015
This is a cute little hide and seek Winnie the Pooh shape sorter game. It is based on the hide and squeak eggs that have been around for a very long time, however now there is a shake rather than a squeak, a honey pot instead of an egg and a Winnie the poo character rather than a cute little face. The thing is the eggs were a really really great game, simple in construction, rewarding and easy to play with, it also made sense why they were in an egg box...these have added the ever popular Winnie the poo characters and so changed the eggs into honey pots, which means it no longer makes sense that they are in an egg box. There is plenty of play value in this game, for example-matching the shapes, matching the colours, guessing who is under which honey pot top etc making it really good for little ones it helps improve memory, hand and eye coordination and fine motor skills but to be honest I prefer the eggs, little one doesn't seem to care either way!

Good fun, 20 Sept. 2015
These were initially very popular in our house when they first arrived, our 20 month old and 4 year old fought over them! They are very bright and colourful, they are sturdy and also easy for small hands to handle. They are not noisy, which I as a parent appreciated, but maybe the kids would have liked them to be louder! The characters are very cute although admittedly we weren't sure of a couple of their names. The novelty seems to have worn out quite quickly but I think they are a nice addition to our mountain of toys and I have no doubt they will come out and be played with regularly.
