This is a fantastic educational toy, that is also fun your child.
The base has ten numbered pegs, with numeric and written numbers. Each peg has a colour coded set of counting rings, with appropriate values relating to each peg. Placing the counters onto each peg develops dexterity, and using the counters to create numerical calculations, develops maths skills. I like toys that develops skills, rather than just provide entertainment, and this toys does that very well.

This item arrived neatly packaged in the manufacturers box with the picture on the front of the counting stack. It was wrapped in shrink wrap plastic so non of the pieces moved about in transit. I really like this item, it is perfect for little children to learn to count. The circles each have a hole that fit onto a wooden peg ranging from 1 to 10 and are painted with a non toxic paint in bright colours. Each colour is different and the pegs are roughly the size of a 50p coin. Obviously with little children you need to watch that they don't try and put these in their mouth hence the warning of choking hazard but that is standard for little kids as they will try and do that. This counting stack is a convenient, fun and easy way to help children learn both colours and how to count. In older children you could teach them maths skills too. Brilliant educational toy that you could spend hours with teaching your child new important skills. Well made and a convenient size to transport around...

It comes in a very nice box, inside of which is a row of pegs with their beautiful and colourful doughnut-shaped wooden pieces.
The pieces are a good size for small and larger hands alike, and I think this could be an invaluable learning aid as well as a fun toy just to play around with.
On the board itself are printed the numbers in their respective colours, as well as countable dots. On the other side are even some simple additions to figure out. You can't see them the right way up unless you look at them from straight above, however. I would have liked to have seen the additions being printed the other way so you could look at them from the other side, which would make more sense to me.
That is just nitpicking, though. It's close to perfect as it is. And it is wood, which has a nice warm tactile feel to it that I have a theory children instinctively prefer...
