Sam the Sleep Trainer from Zazu is an easy-to-understand toddler trainer clock which also helps children learn the time. Sam shows your children an easy way to understand when it's ok to get out of bed. In the evening Sam closes his eyes and goes to sleep at the same time as your children, in the morning sam will change colour when its nearly time to get up and then opens his eyes when it is OK to get out of bed. It doubles up as a friendly night light and alarm clock.

This is a good device in many ways. One of the main reason I chose it was that it actually has a clock face which tells time with old fashioned hands as well as digital figures. It surprised me how many sleep trainers I looked at didn't have any external time telling functionality for the child ie child is trained to get up when the light comes on/picture changes/animal opens eyes but isn't able to learn what time it is then. Two design issues (for us) with Sam Sheep prevent us from scoring it more highly. Firstly all the functions are loaded into combinations of the 4 buttons mounted onto the clock dial; neither my husband nor I found the button combos very intuitive and it took us both a couple of weeks of having to get out the manual each time before we had mastered even basic controls.
